Who are we?

Welcome to All Island Media Ltd (“AIM”), the parent company of the Jersey Evening Post Ltd, and Lighthouse Media (CI) Ltd.

All three companies are registered in Jersey.

Bailiwick Express, and its related brands, are provided by Lighthouse Media (CI) Ltd (LMCI), trading as Bailiwick Publishing (BP).

The Jersey Evening Post, and its related brands, are provided by Jersey Evening Post Ltd (JEP).

AIM’s registered office is 9, Bond Street, St. Helier, Jersey, JE2 3NP.

This privacy policy applies to any information you provide to us through our websites, our mobile apps, communications by email and through social media, by telephone and in person when using our products and services, including browsing our websites (the “Sites”) and you are agreeing to the following terms. In this document “we” or “our” refers to AIM and its companies, JEP and LMCI.

What information will we collect about you?

When you set up an account with AIM or register for one of our services, we may receive personal information about you. This may include:

  • - your personal data e. name, email address, postal address, telephone/mobile number, date of birth.
  • - the products and services you’ve ordered, enquired about or shown an interest in.
  • - details provided by other companies who have obtained your permission through their own privacy policies to share information about you, including from specialist data companies.
  • - your interaction with our websites, mobile apps and other products and services, including adverts.
  • - data we collect using cookies stored on your device about your use of our websites and/or selected third party websites.
  • - information we collect/remember using technologies similar to cookies, such as device identifiers on your mobile device.
  • - your IP address, which is a number that identifies a specific network device on the internet which allows your device to communicate with websites and apps.
  • - technical information from your device relating to the service you receive Information relating to the location of your device.

By submitting those details, you enable us to provide you with the services.

We may also ask you to register which content you would like to receive from us, so that we can provide a more personalized service for both editorial and advertising content.

How will we use the information we collect?

We will use it for a number of purposes including the following:

  • - to verify your identity;
  • - to provide our services, and to deal with your requests and enquiries;
  • - to administer our services;
  • - to contact you;
  • - to provide you with information on our services;
  • - to personalise the way our services are provided to you, and the advertising you receive;
  • - to enable you to share our content with others e.g. using “Email a friend” and “Share this article”;
  • - to inform you if you have been successful in any competitions or promotions;
  • - to compile customer reviews and conduct marketing research;
  • - to understand more about you, such as your location and demographic information;
  • - to use IP addresses to block disruptive use, or to gather data as to how our services are being used so that we can report back to advertisers. This reporting will only done in terms of broad groups, not individually;
  • - to analyse and improve the services we offer;
  • - to maintain records of our communications with you if you get in contact with us;
  • - to provide you with location based services such as weather information based on your location and advertising relevant to your location and previous locations;
  • - to block disruptive use and ensuring the security of our products and services;
  • - to ensure the integrity of votes, competitions and polls;
  • - to comply with laws and other circumstances permitted under the Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2005 and from 25th May 2018 The Data Protection (Jersey) Law 2018.

Will you share my personal information with anyone else?

No. We will keep your information confidential except where disclosure is required or permitted by law.

How long will you keep my personal information?

We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary to provide our services to you. Once you notify us that you no longer wish to receive those services, we will delete your information from our system. We will delete that information within 7 working days.

Cookies

Our websites use ‘Cookies’ to record information about your online preferences and allow us to tailor our services accordingly. For example, they may allow us to see whether the device (and probably its user) has visited the website before and so help us to provide you with a better user experience.

This information is not provided to any third party.

You can change your settings and block cookies, but this means that certain personalized features cannot then be provided.

Children & young people

Our websites, apps and other products and services are not aimed at children.

If you are a parent or guardian of a child under 16, please contact us if you are aware that your child has used our websites or apps or otherwise provided their information to us without your consent. In addition to “your choices” outlined in this Policy, we will delete or otherwise cease processing your child’s personal information within a reasonable time.

Third-party links

Our Sites may include links to third-party websites, plug-ins and applications. Clicking on those links or enabling those connections may allow third parties to collect or share data about you. We do not control these third-party websites and are not responsible for their privacy statements. When you leave our Sites, we encourage you to read the privacy notice of every website you visit.

Third Party Services Working on Our Behalf

We may pass your information to our third party service providers, or other associated organisations for the purposes of completing tasks and providing services to you on our behalf (for example processing payments and providing technical support). However, when we use third party service providers, we disclose only the personal information that is necessary to deliver the service and we have a contract in place that requires them to keep your information secure and not to use it for their own direct marketing purposes. 

Please be reassured that we will not release your information to third parties beyond the AIM network for them to use for their own direct marketing purposes, unless you have requested us to do so, or we are required to do so by law, for example, by a court order or for the purposes of prevention of fraud or other crime.

When you are using our secure online payment system, your payment is processed by a third party processor, who specialises in the secure online capture and processing of credit/debit card and PayPal transactions. If you have any questions regarding secure transactions, please contact us.

AIM’s infrastructure is managed by multiple service providers (For example, Amazon Web Services). However, they do not have access to any personal information and are prohibited to selling or passing on any stored data.

Changes to our Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy may be updated from time to time so you may wish to check it each time you submit personal information to us.

You have the right to make a complaint at any time to the Office of the Information Commissioner’s (OIC), the Jersey supervisory authority for data protection issues (www.oicjersey.org). We would, however, appreciate the chance to deal with your concerns before you approach the OIC so please contact us in the first instance.

Bailiwick Radio

Bailiwick Radio is defined as bailiwickradio.com, associated mobile applications, software, and Internet services under our control, whether partial or otherwise, in connection with providing a platform for Bailiwick Radio's services.

We consider “Personal Information” to include information that alone or when in combination with other information may be used to readily identify, contact, or locate you, such as: name, address, email address, or phone number. We do not consider Personal Information to include information that has been anonymized so that it does not allow a third party to easily identify a specific individual.

When you navigate away from the Bailiwick Radio Products and Services to websites or apps controlled by third parties, you leave the Bailiwick Radio Products and Services, at which point this Privacy Policy no longer applies. You will not receive a notice warning when you leave the Bailiwick Radio Products and Services. Please visit the privacy policies of these third-party websites and apps to learn their privacy policies and data collection practices.

We may collect and share aggregate demographic or statistical information that is not personally identifiable at our discretion.

If you access Bailiwick Radio Products and Services directly from a partner website, we may share your information with that partner. Other than this use, we do not share your Personal Information unless we have your permission or as otherwise stated in this Privacy Policy.
